HGTV is fun to watch, truly. I’m not sure that it is an accurate portrayal of what it’s like to be a real estate agent, yet it is fun all the same. Having said that, one of the most fun things about what we do is the HGTV part of our job: touring a bunch of houses. We definitely get a extensive look at how people are decorating in all kinds of demographic niches.
This blog post is about letting you in on trends that we get to see first hand. Something that I’ve been noticing the last year or so is that grey is replacing beige as neutral. Not grey like grey in the 90s, an earthier tone of grey. The common accent that I’ve seen to this is turquoise or yellow.
Is your house all beige and now I’ve made you feel outdated? Never fear, I’m still seeing a lot of neutral browns. I just think that you’re going to start seeing more and more of the greys. Here’s an example in a home that we sold recently of grey walls with a stone fireplace that has many brown tones that blends very well.
I hope this has given you some good ideas for your own home. Happy decorating!
